Do you remember?

An example of the problem of communication between generations, when they say one thing and you think of what it meant when you were young.

Oh yes I remember it well, and now vinyl is selling again because someone leaked out that
    its sound was superior.

vinyl records lower end like nobody’s business, modern playback equipment has finally evolved to pick up all of that delicious sound and let us hear it as was played. vinyl never went away and likely never will. Now if we can just rid the world of the tendency of the past fifty years to Dolby – ise the crisp, high end out it…. bring back the equaliser!

errrmm… Madam Mayor, where’s the tape deck? that image shows the queue and can be listend to while playing but hwere is the reel to reel deck to record the list for future enjoyment and saving wear on the vinyl library? ( rhetorical query, pay me no mind )

Actually Cassette Tapes were superior in sound quality but, vinyl is still making a comeback. I can remember using Cassette tapes for recordings.

Two days ago, I heard from a cousin who has possession of my mother’s stereo. Keep in mind this “stereo” is the size of a dresser. On it she played her records and mine when I was a child. My cousin asked if I wanted it. I own no records anymore, but…………I do. Call me crazy, but………….I do.

If I got really brave and went hunting in the attic I think I could find a couple of boxes of “old” records. I know my Dad has quite a few from the 1940’s and 50’s

Then I would consider you lucky. I know the records my mom had. Show tunes, folk singers, pop tunes of the time…………..all played, every Saturday as we cleaned the house. They are gone now, to where I don’t know. But…………..they’re not gone or forgotten as long as I live.

I do think I’m lucky but who knows those records might turn up when you least expect it in the most unlikely place

Yeah – the spindle on our turntable couldn’t hold more than three records at a time and even then, its performance was iffy. Sometimes it would drop a record with no warning and it would hit the play arm and break.

I refuse to buy a Blue Ray or even another DVD, I rent from Netflix & RedBox & I subscribe to Netflix & Amazon Streaming, I will not pay for YouTube Red… not yet, maybe when I finally cut the cable. The last CD I bought might have been in 2003. I’d be willing to pay for a digital download of 4k UHD & 3D 1080P movies, because while formats may change I will be able to easily translate them myself & the name won’t change or have to be added to each & every song…. I think I still have a Bets video cassette of Starwars somewhere, remember Laser Video Disc?
