Pondering motives

Next time some control freak tries to brow beat you with "the consensus among whatever scientific group" is . . . .

Ha Ha Ha Ha…..OK, I MIGHT try that approach, but, more than likely I’ll go with….“Fuck your concensus, I have ACTUAL experience and, ha ha ha ha, you DON’T sway me.”

I know how many people were against Einstein’s discovery that light is affected by gravity, causing the lensing effect….
Now that doesn’t mean human activity isn’t affecting the environment, it certainly is, our CO2 production just doesn’t seem to be the critical issue. Just for kicks & giggles, a human creates enough heat just by living to boil a pint of water in about 30 minutes, that’s about 3 gallons of boiling water a day per person. Now let’s take it a step farther & invoke the conservation of energy… specifically heat. Let us stack 14 million people on the island of Manhattan on a Friday for 16 hours of the day & generate enough heat to boil off a lot more than 28 million gallons of water thanks to the way heat stacks. I’ve done the same illustration using BTUs, but I think boiling water makes the point a little more graphically. We have to remember this is just the heat created by our biomass, not our activity or our machinery.
        .
Yet when we talk about this with the greenies, they want to keep their massive cities that are essentially volcanoes with regard to their impact on regional weather patterns & global airflow… even if they remove every car from Manhattan & convert all energy used to tidal & solar. The issue is the greenies don’t expect to save NYC when the seas inevitably rise, they just want the rest of to pay for them to rebuild elsewhere after wasting a ton of coin trying to prevent an eventuality geologically recorded as having happened 9 times already in the past million years.

It is a bit of a head scratcher at the hubris that insists man is the major controlling factor yet ignores their pet projects

Woman is usually a much bigger controlling factor… LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. The best scientists were all heretics.

scientists are no less subject to think far too much of themselves than any other humans. They start thinking they are superior/wise/god loves them better. happily, other humans have hubris ( busllshit ) detectors.
You and I know scientists are people who should they they’d long observed something and what they’d learnt to present is this. If your isntance dunt generally resemble that, they shold become curious and ask to look at your example that they may eventually fathom what difference.
In short, scientists KNOW shit, they simply make guesses and suppositions based on what they’d watched and recorded. A huge body of evidence piled upfor all to see, yes? Then one day it is observed the plague isn’t evil spirits or disembodied maleficence, it’s caused by rats. now we now!
Except, plague still happens in places there are no rats. the mater is looked at again and it is observed all victims have fleas. Holy hannah, it’s the FLEAS… why, every warm animal ( except humans, of course ) have fleas.
eventually we get to the point where we have learnt amoxycillin, flea dust/spray and good hygienic practices generally prevent the plague.
we don’t yet know what we will do when amoxycillin is no longer useful. I really wish science would look into these things long before the 11th hour…
